ACCEL Motorcycle Knowledgebase Question:

a few months ago I put a new accel distributor in my car (part #59107c) It worked fine but the idle would not slow down unless I draged it down. The garage put another set of springs on the weights. It was a lot better but still did this once in a while. Lately it started to cut out at higher rpms with a drag on the engine(up hill verses down hill. It is not a fuel problem. Now when it starts this ,it usually keeps getting worse to the point the car will hardly run. I have been told the weights in the dist. are sticking. What are your thoughts and what springs should be used on the weights in this distributor.

Thoughts ? Unknown, Go back to to the Garage that adjusted the distributor, sounds like they screwed it up...

you guys are just a bunch of smart ass's. It should have worked right in the first place. the idle should have dropped back instead of the timing staying advanced ion thefirst place.

Cap & Rotor will not change your idle. or Drop it as you wanted. This takes a little more engine tuning.. We are sorry for the inconvenience you have experienced, I assure you that this is not the Norm for ACCEL..
